Francesca Diaco is the founding owner and lead trainer of Roatan Underwater Photography, which specializes in underwater photography training for all levels and offers a full range of professional services including underwater photo sessions, trip planning and more.  

A professional underwater photographer since 2006, Francesca’s body of work spans the globe including locations such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Palau, Yap, Truk Lagoon, French Polynesia, Australia and of course Roatan. Her work is often featured in international magazines such as Scuba Diving, Sport Diver, Asian Diver, The Undersea Journal and Photo District News, as well as on underwater photography websites and blogs such as Wetpixel.com and DivePhotoGuide.com. Francesca also represented SEA&SEA Underwater Imaging (whose housing and strobe products she has relied on for over 10 years) as one of their pro's in their 2016 ALPHA program and is proud counted among the SEA&SEA Alpha Alumini. Francesca’s diving career began in Roatan early in 2001 when she completed her PADI Divemaster and Instructor certifications. She did more than 2000 working dives on Roatan before heading on to new adventures in 2004. Her diving career has taken her to the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Bahamas, Thailand, throughout Indonesia, and Australia and has included instructing, dive center management, running a live-aboard in eastern Indonesia, assisting underwater film crews and working as a photo-pro. Specialized photographic assignments have also taken her to Fiji, French Polynesia, Truk Lagoon, Yap, Philippines, Papua New Guinea and more.

When Francesca returned to Roatan in 2014, the island, the community, the diving and photographic opportunities captured her heart once again. She decided to move back on a permanent basis with the goal of serving the underwater photographic community.

With over 5000 photographic dives and counting, one of her greatest joys is sharing her love for underwater photography with others. Whether it's divers picking up a compact camera for the first time or DSLR shooters looking to hone their skills, Francesca’s true passion lies in helping photographers of all levels learn and grow. Francesca creates and conducts every personalized training program at Roatan Underwater Photography.
